What causes air conditioners to breakdown?

Your HVAC unit is a complicated piece of machinery. Most of them are designed to work under extreme conditions, but time and nature eventually take their toll on all, even in Spring Valley.

Sometimes it’s simply just an old system that needs replaced. Other times, the unit simply can’t take the strain. And then it’s also possible it may have a factory defect or part issue.

The most common issues that cause air conditioner breakdowns include:

  • Motor or Electrical Issues with the Compressor
  • Problems with the Condenser or Evaporator Fan
  • Refrigerant leaks

You may also experience air conditioner issues caused by:

  • A Broken Thermostat
  • Frozen Evaporator Coils
  • Air Duct Detoriation
  • A Clogged Drain Line

There’s a hundred moving parts inside your air conditioner and any one of them could give out, including belts and bearings. It’s best to have a professional assess the true cause of your breakdown and get your unit back in working condition.

What's involved with repairing an air conditioner?

The solution to your air conditioner breakdown in Spring Valley, CA can vary, depending on the type of HVAC system you have and the cause of the damage to your unit. Sometimes, an air conditioner repair can be as simple as cleaning the coils or flipping the breaker.

Other repairs include:

  • Repairing wiring
  • Replacing belts or the fan motor
  • Replacing refrigerant
  • Repairing or replacing the compressor
  • Flushing the condensate drain

The trouble is, a single defective component can prevent your air conditioner from operating properly.

Quick and efficient repair is not only best for you, but for the longevity of your system as well. Attempting to run a broken unit will only cause it further damage.

Regular preventative maintenance is the only way to make sure that your air conditioner serves you well for many years to come. Call Precision Temperature at 619-588-5321 to schedule an appointment in Spring Valley, CA today.

Found unit completely out of refrigerant. Unit is going to need to be replaced. Has leaks in coils that are non-repairable & to repair this unit would be throwing money away and not cost-effective as air conditioner is very old and in very poor shape.

Central AC not blowing cold air. Outside unit would not turn on. Breaker was off. Found thermostat wire cut off, and peeled, having a big section of exposed copper. Reworked wire and flipped on breaker. Outside unit came on. Condenser did not have fan blade covered secured properly, creating a hazard for kids playing in the yard. Condenser coil was disintegrating due to rust and corrosion. Due to condition and age of outside unit recommended replacement of ac system.
